Peaceful as a Zen garden, the Part Opener incorporates several core design themes. Some of these treatments -- like the dotted line leading from text box to text box and the use of Template Gothic Bold (the Souvenir of the nineties) -- may be passé in Ray Gun but are still pretty cool in a college textbook. The glowing dotted line points to the red sphere, a recurring motif, rippling the surface of a calm pool.
